This Is Just The Beginning...: Hawai'i: Day 6

DAY 6 - Last day at Kaua'i. Say it ain't so!

Hanalei Valley Lookout- We passed this several times, but this morning it was particularly beautiful as the clouds had not yet begun to set in the valley.

We set out on our last day to hike the Na Pali Coast. Well SOME of it. The coast stretches on the northwest shore of Kaua'i, largely inaccessible, hence why it is so popular to either view it by boat, heli, or hike. We chose the latter two. Without a permit, you can only hike 4 miles in (and don't forget...4 miles out). So this is what we planned to do, which took us from approximately 8:30am until 2pm. Quite a hike. Fairly difficult.

The first two miles you are hiking toward Hanakapi'ai Beach. For the most part, you are open to the sun and on the coast.

We made it...well two miles. Our first stop at Hanakapi'ai Beach.

Next two miles is UP the mountain. You are no longer hiking on the coast, but instead in the woods!

We had to cross several streams to get there. There were far less people on this two-mile stretch.

We made it! Well almost. This was just a good photo-op, right before getting to the base of the falls.

We swam in the pool below the falls. SOO COLD! I went in first and my teeth were chattering!! So fun though! We went behind the falls and made sure to get hit in the head with the water as well!
